Vice Admiral Girish Luthra takes charge of Southern Naval Command

Kochi : Vice Admiral Girish Luthra, AVSM, VSM, took charge as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command ( FOC-in-C, South) here on Saturday. Vice Admiral Luthra, who was serving as Deputy Chief of the Integrated Defence Staff (DCIDS – Operations) at the Naval headquarters in Delhi, took over the charge from Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba, who will take charge as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.In his farewell address Vice Admiral Lanba, PVSM, AVSM, reminded everyone particularly the personnel under training that it was incumbent upon them to utilize the top class training being accorded to them towards becoming excellent professionals in the service of the country.An impressive ceremonial parade was held at the Naval base on the occasion which was followed by the traditional ‘Pulling Out’ ceremony. The Parade was witnessed by many senior officers, men and families of Southern Naval Command.Vice Admiral Lanba will take charge of the Western Naval Command at Mumbai on January 31. He will be replacing Vice Admiral SPS Cheema.
