Vijayendra Pal Singh Badnore is new Punjab Governor

CHANDIGARH: The President of India today appointed Vijayendra Pal Singh Badnore BJP leader from Rajasthan as Governor of Punjab to relieve Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana of additional charge of Punjab. Badnore was member Legislative assembly of Rajasthan during 1977-80, 1985-90, 1993-98 and 1998-99. He was cabinet minister for Irrrigation in Rajasthan in 1998-99. He repersented Bhilwara Lok Sabha constituency during 1999-2004 and 2004-2009. He was member of Rajya Sabha till July 4, 2016. Born on May 12, 1948 he hails from Jalmahal, Badnor in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan.
The President of India has also apponted Banwarilal Purohit as the Governor of Assam, Dr. Najma A. Heptulla as the Governor of Manipur and Prof. Jagdish Mukhi as the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands vice Lt. Gen. (Retd.) A.K. Singh, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM.
