New Delhi : A police complaint has been filed against Indian boxer Vijender Singh for insulting national flag of India. As per reports, Ulhas PR, a resident of Vasundhara Enclave filed complaint against Vijender in New Ashok Nagar Police Station. As per the complainant, Vijender disrespected the flag by wearing tri-color shorts during his maiden WBO Asia Pacidic Super Middleweight title victory against Australian Kerry Hope at Thyagaraj Stadium on Saturday.
As per ANI‘s report, Ulhas wrote in his complaint, “In this match, boxer Vijender Singh was wearing a short and on the back of it India’s national flag was placed. This is a clear violation of flag code of India. Ulhas also stated that in response to one of his Public Interest Litigation (PIL), Delhi High Court directed him to file a police complaint in incidents where national honour is involved.On Saturday, Vijender defeated Australian Kerry Hope in a 10-round bout. Congratulating Vijender for winning the WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight on Saturday, British boxing star Amir Khan tweeted to Vijender sayinf, “Careful what you wish for kid!”
