Protesters Heckle Trump at Washington Restaurant

Washington, Sep 10 – US President Donald Trump was confronted by protesters on Tuesday evening while dining at a well-known restaurant in Washington, DC.

In footage aired by CNN, the demonstrators shouted: “Free DC! Free Palestine! Trump is the Hitler of our time!” Trump did not respond, instead motioning to his security detail to clear the area, saying, “Come on, let’s go.”

Trump was accompanied by Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth as the group headed to Joe’s Seafood, a popular restaurant near the White House.

It marked Trump’s first public dinner outing of his second term. During his previous tenure, he typically only dined at his own hotel in the capital.

The activist group Code Pink later claimed responsibility for the protest, writing on X:
“While Trump, JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth and others feasted at a steakhouse, we stood our ground and told them the truth: Free DC. Free Palestine. Trump is the Hitler of our time. He will never dine in peace while communities are under siege.”

The dinner outing was intended to highlight Trump’s claim that Washington, DC has become safer following the deployment of federal troops last month.

Speaking to reporters outside the venue before entering, Trump said:
“We have a capital that’s very, very safe right now. The restaurants are booming. People are going out to dinner where they didn’t go out for years, and it’s a safe city.”

The incident drew criticism from conservative commentator Laura Loomer, who raised questions about security:
“Where the hell is @SecretService? How did they get within inches of him? This is insane. How did this happen!?” she posted on X.
