Top Global CEOs Meet PM Modi, Reaffirm Plans for Major Investment and Expansion in India

New Delhi, Dec 9:
Leaders of the world’s top technology companies — including Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, and Microsoft Chairman & CEO Satya Nadella — met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. During these meetings, the executives reiterated their commitment to expanding operations and investments in India.

Cognizant Commits to Growth in Emerging Indian Cities

Cognizant said it reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening its presence across India, particularly in emerging talent hubs.

The company shared on X, “Our CEO, @imravikumars, along with Rajesh Varrier, Chairman & Managing Director, Cognizant India, had the distinct privilege of meeting the Hon’ble Prime Minister for an inspiring conversation on accelerating AI adoption and advancing education and skill development.”

The post added that Cognizant is committed to expanding into new cities to support equitable economic growth and nurture talent across the country.

Intel CEO Praises India’s Semiconductor Push

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan also met PM Modi for a wide-ranging conversation on technology, computing, and India’s growing importance in the global semiconductor landscape.

Tan posted on X, “Honoured to meet Prime Minister @narendramodi. We had a wide-ranging discussion on technology and the tremendous potential for India.”

He applauded India’s comprehensive semiconductor design and manufacturing policy and confirmed Intel’s strong support for the India Semiconductor Mission.

Intel has further strengthened its commitment by signing an MoU with Tata Group, enabling manufacturing, assembly, and packaging of Intel-designed products at Tata Electronics’ upcoming semiconductor fabrication and OSAT facilities. This partnership will help localise key parts of Intel’s global supply chain.

Microsoft Announces $17.5 Billion Investment After Nadella’s Meeting with PM

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella also met PM Modi earlier in the day. Following the meeting, Microsoft announced a landmark $17.5 billion investment in India over 2026–2029 to accelerate AI adoption nationwide.

The company said in a statement, “This is our largest investment in Asia. The funding will advance India’s cloud and AI infrastructure, skilling initiatives, and ongoing operations. It builds on the $3 billion investment announced earlier this year.”

Nadella expressed gratitude for the meeting, posting, “Thank you, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for an inspiring conversation on India’s AI opportunity. To support the country’s ambitions, Microsoft is committing US$17.5B to help build infrastructure, skills, and sovereign capabilities for India’s AI-first future.”

PM Modi welcomed Microsoft’s commitment, stating that the world is optimistic about India’s AI potential. He added that India’s youth will use this opportunity to drive innovation and create solutions for a sustainable future.
