India Celebrates Republic Day with Pride, Unity and Constitutional Spirit

New Delhi, January 26:
India celebrated its Republic Day on Sunday with great pride and patriotic fervour, marking the historic occasion when the Constitution of India came into force on January 26, 1950, transforming the country into a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic.

The main celebrations were held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, where the President of India unfurled the national flag and took the salute during the grand Republic Day parade. The ceremony showcased India’s military strength, cultural diversity and democratic values, drawing nationwide attention.

The parade featured impressive marching contingents from the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, along with paramilitary forces. A spectacular fly-past by the Indian Air Force added to the grandeur, while colourful tableaux from various states and Union Territories highlighted India’s rich heritage, traditions and developmental achievements.

Across the country, Republic Day was observed with flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programmes and patriotic events in schools, colleges, government offices and residential communities. Citizens paid tribute to freedom fighters and constitutional architects whose vision laid the foundation of modern India.

Leaders across political lines extended greetings to the nation, urging citizens to uphold the values of unity, equality and justice enshrined in the Constitution. Special emphasis was placed on themes such as national unity, women empowerment, innovation and self-reliance.

Republic Day holds deep historical significance, as January 26 was earlier celebrated as Purna Swaraj Day in 1930 during the freedom struggle. The adoption of the Constitution on this date symbolised the culmination of India’s long journey towards self-governance.

As the tricolour fluttered proudly across the nation, Republic Day celebrations once again reinforced a collective commitment to democracy, constitutional values and the vision of a stronger, inclusive India.
