In his statement, US President Joe Biden strongly warned any state or hostile actor against attacking Israel, emphasizing a clear “don’t, don’t, don’t” message, as reported by the media.
He likened the recent attack on Israel to the significance of 9/11, noting that for a nation the size of Israel, it was a tragedy on a much larger scale, approximately 15 times more impactful than the 9/11 attacks, according to the BBC. Biden acknowledged the shock, pain, and rage experienced by Israelis and emphasized the need for justice. He urged that while seeking justice, it’s important for Israelis not to be consumed by anger.
Regarding the events on October 7th, he drew a comparison between the Hamas attack and the brutality associated with groups like ISIS, stating that there is no justification for such violence, and its impact is deeply felt worldwide.
Biden highlighted that the 7th of October marked the deadliest day for the Jewish community since the Holocaust and criticized the global inaction during that time.
He concluded his message by asserting that the United States will not stand idly by and will actively pursue all avenues to secure the release of those held by Hamas, particularly addressing the families waiting to learn the fate of their loved ones who have been taken hostage.
