India’s Smartphone Exports Surge 95% in September, Touch $13.5 Billion in Six Months

New Delhi, Oct 14:
India’s smartphone exports have reached an estimated $1.8 billion in September 2025, marking an impressive 95% year-on-year growth, according to a report by the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA).

Despite August and September typically being low-export months due to production adjustments and seasonal cycles, exports remained exceptionally strong this year — highlighting the resilience and maturity of India’s mobile manufacturing ecosystem.

During April–September 2025, smartphone exports are projected at $13.5 billion, up from $8.5 billion in the same period last year — a growth of over 60%. This reflects the sector’s growing scale, efficiency, and reliability — the key pillars driving India’s global competitiveness.

“The steady rise in exports underscores the solid foundation of India’s mobile phone manufacturing ecosystem. Global value chains are now deeply rooted here, with rising exports to advanced economies showing strong trust in India’s ability to deliver quality, scale, and reliability,” said Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman of ICEA.

The United States, UAE, Austria, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom remain India’s top export destinations. Notably, the US accounts for nearly 70% of total exports between April and September 2025 — up from 37% a year ago.

Exports to the US have tripled, rising from $3.1 billion in April–September 2024 to an estimated $9.4 billion this year — a remarkable 200% growth.

ICEA projects mobile phone exports to reach $35 billion in FY 2025–26, up from $24.1 billion in FY 2024–25 — reinforcing India’s position as a trusted global hub for smartphone manufacturing.
