Martydoms of Sahibzadas should not be called ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ – Inder Mohan Singh

Delhi- 25 December : President of Dashmesh Sewa Society (Regd) and former member of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Inder Mohan Singh made an appeal to refrain from calling the martyrdom of Sahibzadas as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’. He said that the martyrdom day of Sahibzadas of tenth Guru Gobind Singh ji is celebrated with great respect and reverence all over the world.

While appreciating the program being hosted by the Government on December 26, 2022 in memory of about 319 years back martyrdom of Baba Jorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh and giving his reactions on the government’s decision to celebrate this program every year on this day, Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that the government should not forget the martyrdom of the other 2 Sahibzadas Baba Ajit Singh and Baba Jujhar Singh who sacrified their lives while bravely fighting war at Chamkaur Sahib about 5 days ago of the martyrdom of the younger Sahibzadas.

He said that the sad demise of grandmother of these Sahibzadas Mata Gujar Kaur ji immediately after the martyrdom of younger Sahibzadas is also a vital part of the Sikh history.

Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that the whole world is giving great respect to these
Sahibzadas by calling them as ‘Baba’ hence the use of the word ‘Bal’ or child for these
Sahibzadas is not appropriate.

He made an earnest appeal to the government to celebrate the martyrdom day on December 26 as ‘Sahibzade Shahadat Diwas’ instead of ‘Veer Bal Diwas’

so as to avoid any controversy or politics on this issue.
