MELBOURNE TO HOST THE 2024 AUSTRALIAN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION CONFERENCE

IDP Education and the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) are excited to announce that Melbourne will be the host city for the 37th annual Australian International Education Conference (AIEC) in
October 2024.

Themed “The human element”, the 2024 conference will bring delegates together to discuss the ongoing
evolution of the sector and how human connection can be enhanced to ensure the sector continues to support students on their journey to realising their dreams.

IDP Chief Executive Officer, Tennealle O’Shannessy said AIEC 2024 will be a prime opportunity to reflect on
the most important parts of the industry – the students, counsellors and leaders who are central to the sector’s success.

“While advances in technology are giving us the opportunity to engage people in ways which deliver more
personalised interactions, we must not lose touch with what makes our industry unique – our personal human connections.

“AIEC 2024 will be our opportunity to focus on the heart of our industry – our people,” Ms O’Shannessy said.
IEAA Chief Executive Officer, Phil Honeywood, said IEAA is looking forward to hosting AIEC 2024 alongside
IDP Education where they will provide a critical forum for delegates to reflect on the partnerships,
collaborations and connections that have shaped the global education industry.

“At its core the global education industry relies on bringing people together and building human connections to support others on an important journey. It’s this reliance on connectivity that makes the international education sector so unique,” said Mr Honeywood.

“AIEC 2024’s theme – the human element – will provide an avenue to reflect on the ways the international
education sector partners and connects with others while challenging delegates to find new and inspired ways to support our students as they prepare for and embark on one of the most important phases of their lives”.

AIEC 2024 will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 22-25 October 2024. This
follows the successful 2023 AIEC in Adelaide, which saw more than 1,700 global international education
leaders consider the transformative nature of the international education landscape and the opportunities to
enhance student support.
