PM Modi Encourages Innovative Thinking at Smart India Hackathon 2024

New Delhi, Dec 11 (IANS) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with young innovators during the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon 2024 via video conferencing. In his address, he stressed the importance of collective efforts, reiterating the ‘Sabka Prayas’ philosophy highlighted in his Red Fort speeches.

The Prime Minister emphasized that India’s progress relies on the ingenuity of its youth and their ability to offer fresh perspectives for solving national and global challenges.

PM Modi applauded participants for their innovative solutions, recalling that outcomes from previous editions of the hackathon have already been adopted by various government ministries. He expressed enthusiasm for learning about this year’s contributions, commending their potential to create a significant impact.

During the event, PM Modi engaged with Sayeeda from the ‘Big Brains Team’ at NIT Srinagar, whose AI-powered tool, Virtual Reality Friend, supports children with autism spectrum disorder. The solution enhances social and cognitive skills through virtual interactions, showcasing the team’s commitment to inclusivity and global relevance.

Highlighting the achievements of the hackathon since its inception, PM Modi noted its role as a launchpad for Indian youth to tackle over 3,000 real-world problems, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. He praised the sharp increase in submitted ideas, from 7,000 in 2017 to over 57,000 in 2024, as a testament to India’s growing tech and creative potential.

The Prime Minister also introduced upcoming initiatives such as the “One Nation-One Subscription” scheme for researchers and the “Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue” in January 2025 to encourage youth participation in nation-building.

PM Modi concluded by urging innovators to continue solving critical challenges and expressing confidence in India’s trajectory toward becoming a developed nation through the power of knowledge, innovation, and youthful energy.
