RETIREMENT OF ROB STOKES

RETIREMENT OF ROB STOKES

Minister for Infrastructure, Minister for Cities, and Minister for Active Transport and my good friend Rob Stokes has today confirmed he will be retiring from politics at the next State election.

Throughout his 15 years in the NSW Parliament, Rob has been a fearless advocate for his community and for the people of our State.

Over the course of his ministerial career Rob has been a champion of reform, spearheading significant changes during his time as Minister for Environment, Minister for Planning and Minister for Education among others, that will have a lasting and beneficial impact on the people of NSW, including embarking on the State’s largest ever school building program.

More recently he has been key to bringing the NSW Government’s Six Cities Strategy to life, which will help bring greater connectivity, investment and opportunity to our major city centres.

As Minister for Active Transport, Rob has ensured the NSW Government remains focused on making people’s daily lives better through the expansion of open spaces better connected by walking, running and cycling tracks, encouraging more people to enjoy our beautiful city and state.

As the Member for Pittwater, Rob has helped secure significant education, road, transport and health investments for his Northern Beaches community, including upgrading of Mona Vale Public School and Mona Vale Road.

I would like to thank Rob for his important and significant contribution to public life and our State, and I wish him, his wife Sophie and their children all the very best for the future.
