Smt. Satipal Kaur cremated amidst a large gathering, final prayer on 28th September (Sunday)

Mother Satipal Kaur, wife of Punjabi writer Ripudaman Singh Roop, and mother of playwrights Sanjeevan and Ranjivan, was cremated yesterday at Balongi cremation ground, Mohali. A large number of writers, lawyers, theatre and film actors, political and social workers attended the cremation.

Due to old age, Shri Roop bade farewell by placing a red chunni (phulkari) from home.

Kuljit Singh Bedi, Deputy Mayor (Municipal Corporation Mohali), and BJP leader Mrs. Lakhwinder Kaur Garcha visited the family. Progressive Writers Association’s National General Secretary and critic Dr. Sukhdesh Singh Siras, noted Punjabi poet Gurbhajan Singh Gill, and outspoken journalist Sarwan Singh Tahina shared condolences over the phone.

The mortal remains of Mother Satipal Kaur were consigned to flames by her sons Sanjeevan and Ranjivan, grandchildren Riturag, Priyarak, Rishmarag, Udaerag, and grandsons-in-law Ujjal Kumar and Mohit Vaid.

The family has informed that the Antim Ardas (final prayer) for Mrs. Satipal Kaur will be held on 28th September, Sunday, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Gurudwara Sri Dashmesh Darbar Sahib, Sector-40C, near Manav Mangal School.
